Megan's Big Adventure

Well, it really wasn't that big, or that adventurous, but it was at least something to blog about. =) Megan and Mommy left the house on Friday and ran some errands. We decided that we were both stinky so we both got showers/baths. (And Mommy will learn by the next Megan-bath to put the diaper on immediately following the bath.) After getting clean and fed, Mommy loaded Megan into the carseat and into the car. Then it was off to the post office and CVS! Megan might have been a little scared at first -- or maybe Mommy was since she hadn't driven her car in a month (Let alone with a baby in it!!)...but we made it! Like i said, not very adventuresome, but it was something. Maybe next week we'll go somewhere more exciting, like the grocery store!

Everything's cuter with a sombrero...

Megan is just the most popular girl on the block these days! She had some more special visitors yesterday and today. Grandmommy and Granddaddy came to visit.

Megan entertained us all with some very active tummy time, but her favorite part of the visit was when Granddaddy and Grandmommy held her.

Later in the afternoon, Jacson, Jill, Ethan, and Jared came by to see Megan, too! Jared wanted to know why I had a sombrero. I told him that it was a well-known fact that everything is cuter with a sombrero on. See!!!

Happy Easter

It's been a busy week for all of us as we adjust to more new schedules. Mom had a doctor's appointment earlier in the week (she checked out just fine!) and Daddy got to spend some quality time with Megan.

It was nice to relax today and have a restful Easter. Dad took a long, well-deserved nap, and Megan even slept long enough to let Mom watch one her favorite movies from when she was a kid, The Apple Dumpling Gang. That was a nice birthday treat for Mom =).

Tomorrow, Granddaddy and Grandmommy Sinclair are coming up to visit. Look for more pictures coming soon!

Megan's Second Bath

Well, we didn't capture the first bath that well, so we decided to do a better job this time. Megan was cleaned, and also decided that she wanted to have her own shower at the end of the process - of course - so she peed on Mom =).

She is all nice and clean now.

Megan has visitors!

Megan had a very busy day yesterday. She got to meet a lot of new people. Grandmommy Herring visited for the afternoon. Uncle Kevin also dropped by and we all went on a walk around the neighborhood. (Mom didn't run over the dogs this time, but she did rear-end Daddy once!) Megan also got to meet three of our other neighbors.

Out and About

We took Megan out for a walk yesterday. We made it all the way around the block (even up the big hill)!! She likes the walks and I think they calm her. The dogs do well with the stroller, though Shoki and Mocha both got hit by it at least once each. They really shouldn't have stopped right in front of it.

Today we had another round of playtime after Megan's afternoon feeding. She's most active and awake during this time, so we play with her toys. Yesterday we played with the LeapFrog catepillar, and today we played with the LeapFrog Baby Tad. Megan really likes the music and seems to be engaged.

Tomorrow, Grandmommy Herring and Uncle Kevin are coming to visit.

Our First Bath

We gave Megan her first bath today. We didn't get any photos, because it took all our hands to clean her, but maybe next time. She didn't seem to mind the bath and didn't get fussy at all - even when we washed her hair. Dad had a nice set up for us on the kitchen counter complete with step-by-step bathing instructions (thanks, Huggies!!)

After bath time it was time to feed (again) then down for a nap. Next up is a walk outside, then a nap for Mom.

We've also been trying out our new swaddlers and wraps. Yesterday Megan was totally stylish in the swaddler that Grandmommy and Aunt Beth gave her. Last night, Mom put Megan in the Halo Sleepsack. The velcro closure is much easier to deal with and keeps little Megan's arms wrapped tighter. It also keeps her on her back. My other wraps kept her rolled to one side. As much as Mom likes making baby burritos, she just can't get them right at 3am. Dad does a much better job!!

Finally, some pictures!

Stacy finally got around to taking and uploading pictures to share!! To view our photos, go to http://herringfamilypictures.shutterfly.com. It's probably easiest to view the pictures as a slideshow (slideshow links are at top and right of page).

Megan had her first visits to the pediatrician this week. She was still a little jaundiced and her billirubin levels went up slightly, but she had gained an ounce since arriving home from the hospital.

We went back to the doctor this morning to check the billirubin again, and after a very traumatic episode of trying to squeeze out enough blood for the test...we found out that her levels are going down, so hopefully she won't be yellow for too much longer. She had also gained 5 ounces, and is up to 7 lbs 3 oz!! Her feeding binge yesterday must have paid off.

Today we may attempt giving Megan a bath.

Mom and Dad are holding up pretty well and are getting some sleep. Dad's napping now and Mom's going to rest after the next feeding.

Baby Herring Arrives!

I would post more images, but at this point I have been up 36 hours, and the wireless internet connection here at the hospital is lacking.

So, the point to this whole blog has finally arrived:

Megan Sinclair Herring -- 3/3/08 @ 0723

More info to follow once Daddy Herring finally has a decent internet connection...
